What This Call Is
"Will leads every consultation personally — the same photographer who will be beside you on your wedding day."
This is a sixty-minute conversation, unhurried and unscripted. Your story, your venue, the moments that will matter most. Refract is based in the Washington D.C. region and has photographed weddings from the Hawaiian coast to the Colorado Rockies. Wherever your day takes place — across the DMV, across the country, or across an ocean — the level of intention we bring does not change.

The DMV is where Refract is rooted. Capitol Hill townhouses, Chesapeake waterfront properties, Blue Ridge estate venues, and everything in between — this is the landscape Will knows most intimately and returns to most often.
Documented Portfolio
Across the Country
Hawaii · Colorado · Utah · Philadelphia · and growing
Refract has photographed and filmed weddings on the North Shore of Oahu, in the Utah desert, through the Colorado Rockies, and along the Philadelphia Main Line. Each location brought its own light, its own rhythm, and its own demands — which is exactly why we seek them out.
The Next Chapter
We are actively building toward
international destination work.
international destination work.
If your wedding is abroad and you are looking for a photographer who brings genuine craft, calm presence, and no geographic hesitation — reach out. We would love to be part of that conversation, wherever it leads.
The Consultation
Sixty minutes. Three movements.
01
Your Story
Will opens every call by asking how you met, how the proposal happened, and what your day means to you as a couple. The photography conversation grows from there — not the other way around.
02
Your Day
Venue, timeline, light conditions, the moments you most want captured. If you are marrying somewhere Will has not photographed before, he researches it before the call. He arrives informed, not improvising.
03
An Honest Answer
If Refract is the right studio for your day, Will will say so clearly and tell you why. If we are not — for any reason — he will tell you that too. Clarity matters more than a booking.

"The couple on the Oahu shoreline and the couple in a Georgetown parlor deserve the same quality of attention, the same depth of presence, the same photographs they will reach for in forty years."

Before You Book
Questions worth answering now.
Do we need a venue or date confirmed before booking a consultation?
Not at all. Many of our couples come to us early in the planning process — sometimes before a venue is confirmed. A general sense of your timeline and vision is enough to have a meaningful conversation. The details can develop from there.
We are getting married outside the DMV. Do you travel?
Yes. Refract has photographed and filmed weddings in Hawaii, Colorado, Utah, and Philadelphia alongside our home region of D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. Travel logistics and any associated expenses are discussed openly during the consultation and reflected transparently in your proposal — no surprises.
What about international weddings?
We are actively building toward international destination work and genuinely excited about it. If your wedding is abroad and you are interested in having Refract as part of your team, we would love to hear about it. Reach out and let's have a conversation — those are exactly the calls we look forward to most.
Will you share pricing before the call?
We share our collections during the consultation rather than before it. The right recommendation depends on your day — your hours, your priorities, your venue, your vision. The call is how we figure out what fits well. What we can tell you is that our collections are designed for couples who value craft, presence, and longevity.
Should both of us be on the call?
It is helpful if both partners can join, particularly toward the end when we discuss collections. But it is not required. If one partner cannot make it, Will covers everything and follows up with whatever they need to feel confident about the decision.
What happens after the consultation?
If it feels like a strong fit, Will follows up within twenty-four hours with a proposal tailored to your day. You have time to review it, ask questions, and decide — no pressure and no artificial deadline.
Do you offer videography?
Yes. Refract offers hybrid photo and video coverage as part of select collections. If video is something you are considering, mention it during the consultation and Will will walk you through what that looks like for your day specifically.
